The Shed Opens It's Doors to Over 200!

On Sunday July 14, 2013 La Loma Development opened its doors to the community as Pasadena’s first green industry event space, The Shed. The Shed is Pasadena’s emerging space for urban agriculture, sustainable development, planning, permaculture, land use, watershed, and foodshed.  The Open House event was a networking event for local permaculture professionals and enthusiasts. About 200 people came together to celebrate their shared passions and learn from each other.  The event was highlighted by speakers Marco Barrantes of La Loma Development, emcee's Carter Wallace and Rishi Kumar of Institute of Urban Ecology, Mark Rice of Pasadena Learning Gardens, Permaculture designer Larry Santoyo, and Christopher Shien author of The Vegetable Gardener’s Guide to Permaculture. A night of fun and good company could not have been achieved without the delicious meals served by Huntington Catering and musical entertainment from local band Thee Commons. The Shed will be hosting monthly events and workshops around sustainable development practices, and plans to be the home of the sustainable community on the east side.  The Shed is also open for private parties, corporate events and filming.
